Massotherapy
“Often touching, even brushing, is better than talking.”
Éric Orsenna
What is Massotherapy?
Massage therapy is a set of complementary manual techniques based on a global conception of the patient and framed by educational intervention processes.
As a whole, it aims to evaluate the various soft tissues (skin, muscles) and joints of the body (tendons, ligaments, joint capsules) in order to treat and prevent injuries, pain or other physical dysfunctions that may occur in an individual.
Basics of Massotherapy
During your first appointment, our massage therapists will first draw up a global health assessment. This is done with the help of a questionnaire on your medical history and possible pain and/or symptoms. The massage therapist will then have all the information needed to determine if his or her skills and technique are well adapted to your needs. If this is the case, the session can begin. If not, the massage therapist will be able to refer you to the appropriate professional.
Depending on the massage therapist’s technique, the massage will last from 15 to 90 minutes and will take place on a table, a futon or a massage chair. For a table massage with or without the use of oil, the massage therapist may ask you to undress. You may keep your underwear on and your body should be covered with a sheet, except for the area being massaged. Throughout the massage, it is important to tell the massage therapist if you feel any discomfort or pain. If necessary, the therapist will adapt his or her technique to provide the desired state of well-being. Each patient can therefore benefit from a massage adapted to his or her needs.
